Many businesses, nursing homes, medical facilities, sporting associations, and more have recognized that quite often a person may become infected by the COVID-19 virus and either be pre-symptomatic or not have any symptoms during their initial phase of the infection. In most of these cases, the infected person may go two to three days before exhibiting any symptoms, or, if they do have symptoms, they exhibit few signs of being infected and assume it may simply be a cold or an allergy. It has also been determined that many infected people are asymptomatic or show no signs of being infected. Recently, it has been established that as many as 40% to 50% of those infected are pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic.
With these findings, many companies are now using a COVID-19 IgM/IgG antibodies test that is simply administered by lancing a finger and placing two drops of blood in the test well followed by two to three drops of buffer solution. The testing device looks for IgM antibodies associated with a person having the virus and fighting it off. IgG antibodies will show up in the test identifying the donor had the virus and fought it off. The COVID-19 IgM/IgG antibodies test is reliable, quick (10 to 15 minutes for results), and cost-effective at $17.50 per kit (sold 25 in a box). Companies can now screen their workforce to determine if the virus has infected an employee or patient/resident.
